Frequently Asked Questions

■ What are the dates for the 2013 Camp Season?

The 2013 Liberty Lake Regular Camp Season runs from June 24th through August 16th. We also run "Pre-Camp" and "Post-Camp" weeks (6/17-6/21, 8/19-8/23). These additional weeks are intended for families that need the child care coverage and for those Liberty Lakers that just can't get enough of Camp!

How long do we sign up for?

Camper sessions can range anywhere from 2 to 10 weeks. Our minimum requirement is 2 weeks. Any camper stay of 2 or 3 weeks MUST be consecutive. Our recommendation is that campers attend for at least 4 weeks, thus providing them with a substantial amount of time to become part of our wonderful community and develop strong and meaningful relationships with campers and counselors.

What are the summer hours?

The buses arrive at Camp by 8:45 am and depart promptly at 4 pm. Before & After Camp Care is available upon request at NO EXTRA CHARGE and allows campers to extend their Camp day from 7 am to 6 pm.

Is transportation included?

YES- Central Express Transportation and/or extended hours is included in tuition. "Neighborhood Pickup" is offered on an EXTREMELY LIMITED BASIS (not all areas) with a Surcharge of $50 each way, per week. The "Neighborhood Pickup" option is generally only utilized by families who truly require it.

  What is Central Express Transportation?

Our Central Express pick-up and drop-off system makes getting to and from Camp efficient and cost effective! Central Express is the most popular transportation option amongst our Camp families. Based on the location of our Camp families, we have designated numerous shopping centers, schools and street corners as "Central Locations." These designated drop off and pick up spots are strategically located and changes are high that there's an Express Stop near you! We make every effort to include "early" and "late" stops on the same routes-for the convenience of our Camp families.

What is the "average" length of the bus ride?

With the exception of our farthest areas, buses generally pick up between 8-8:30 am and arrive at Camp at 8:45 am. Buses depart from Camp promptly at 4 pm and drop off times range between 4:10-4:45 pm. The maximum length of a camper's ride in most areas is 45 minutes, but doesn't feel like it with the "fun on the bus" activities. All families are provided with definitive information on their child's pick-up and drop-off times in mid-June.

Do you offer "Before & After" hours care?

YES-At Liberty Lake, you can choose "Before/After Care" in lieu of transportation (No Additional Fee). The hours are from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm.

  Is lunch included?

OH YES-And it's DEEE-LICIOUS! Hot lunches are provided every day, as well as assorted sandwiches, fresh fruit, salad bar, past bar, drinks, desserts and snacks! Click here to see our menu!

How many campers will be in my child's group?

The typical group consists of 10-15 campers of the same gender and age. The Camp is broken down into divisions of "Turtles" (Pre K-K), "Freshman" (1st/2nd grade), "Sophomores" (3rd/4th grade), "Juniors" (5th/6th) and "Seniors" (7th-9th).

How many Team Members are in each group?

One "Group Leader" (college-aged or older) and up to two "Counselors" (HS Junior or Senior), depending on the age and size of the group. LITs are also assigned to activities and are NOT included in our supervision ratios.

Who teaches the activities?

Activities are lead by adults with teaching and/or professional experience, with most of our Activity Specialists being coaches and teachers. Being that campers CHOOSE their activities at Liberty Lake for a week at a time, our Specialists/Group Leaders must have the skills and leadership to challenge their very interested and excited campers on a daily basis!

How many electives do Campers get each day?

Out of the 8 periods in the day, Freshman have 3 elective periods, Sophomores and Juniors have 4 and Seniors have 5.

How do we choose electives?

Campers fill out our online "Top 10 Elective Preferences" form through our CampMinder System in the spring. Camper schedules are generated on the basis of their top 10 preferences and they can update their top 10 list every week if they desire.

What do you do on rainy days?

THERE IS NO RAINY DAY SCHEDULE. This is not a typo! Activities that are already under our covered pavillions continue as normal while outdoor activities move under the pavilions where Specialists orchestrate games and activities for campers.

Do you have swim instruction?

YES-Instructional Swim is required for campers in Pre-K through 4th grade. For campers in 5th to 9th grade, instructional swim is optional and campers can select it as an elective on their Top 10 Elective Preference Form. All Liberty Lakers, regardless of age, have a daily "Free Swim" in either our pool or lake.

Do campers swim in the lake?

YES and Liberty Lakers love it! There's a sandy beach alongside the shallow end of the lake, plus a deep end with a water trampoline, jumping board and a dock that kids enjoy swimming to. The lake is also used for BOATING: row boats, kayaks, canoes & pedal boats and FISHING: Bass, Sunnies, Pike, Perch, Blue Gill, Catfish & Carp.

What are the ages of campers?

Our Campers start at entering preschool age (must be potty trained) and can attend through entering 9th grade. (10th grade for the LIT Program).
