Family Night (What Happened)      Week 6 2017

Family Night was not as expected. It was supposed to be a nice night to tour parents around camp and do cool activities. Instead, it was a torrential downpour with a lot of wind and thunder and lightning.

Most people were able to eat the hot dogs and cheeseburgers. A lot of people also got to eat Rita’s water ice. The flavors were cotton candy, mango zero sugar, and lime. It started drizzling a little when people were eating.

And then the rain came. It was pouring very heavily, with everyone in the lunch tent. The DJ couldn’t play music anymore, so counselors started an a capella. They sang the alligator song, the Liberty Lake song, and a few others. There was another speaker and played “Party in the USA” and the “Moana” soundtrack.

The lunch tent started flooding, so they had to move everybody to Twin Cedars and the art tent. The hill to go up top was also starting to flood, so we all had to fight the flood up the hill,

Also, someone reminded counselors Lauren and Cassie that the bunnies were still outside next to the shed, so they risked their lives putting the bunnies safely into the shed with the violent pouring rain with the thunder and lightning. It is said that lightning struck the trees behind the shed, too.

With everyone at Twin Cedars and the art tent, we ended up getting home safely.
