Success Inclusion Program

Inclusion – Social/Emotional – Medical – Cultural

PLEASE NOTE: As of 3/1/23, our inclusion program for any campers needing additional staff support is officially on WAITING LISTS for all ages, all groups, for the 2024 season- We’re sorry!

Liberty Lake Day Camp gives all children an opportunity to succeed. Under our “Success Program” umbrella, we welcome campers with additional needs who can succeed with extra support in a total inclusion experience.

Our Social/Emotional Support Program assists children and staff by nurturing the social and emotional development of all children. Campers may come to us having to adjust to new situations at home,  such as moving, loss or issues with peers. They may be experiencing behavioral health issues such as: ADHD, Anxiety, Depression or Eating Disorders. Our staff is ready and able to support campers with these needs

Our experienced and caring nursing staff provides support for children with a myriad of medical conditions such as diabetes, epilepsy, severe food allergies, etc.  They are able to monitor and/or dispense medication as needed. They attend to the typical cuts and bruises that naturally occur at camp too!

We embrace children from other countries and cultures into our camp family. We strive to provide support in their native language,  as well as support for cultural differences such as food and dress. Our goal is for ALL campers to be successful in our extraordinarily diverse camp world, just as they will in life.

When families indicate on their application that their child has an IEP or 504 plan at school, our Success Team will reach out to discuss details of your child’s unique challenges that relate to their possible enrollment and attendance at Liberty Lake. Terri Southerland, our Director of Inclusion who heads up the off-season Success Team, can be reached at inclusion@libertylakedaycamp.com with any questions or concerns.

INTAKE PROCESS FOR PROSPECTIVE CAMPERS

You will be contacted by the Inclusion Team, asking you-

  • To provide a copy of your child’s IEP/504
  • To have your child’s teacher fill out a Questionnaire we will provide.
  • To sign a release we will provide allowing us to contact the school staff or outside agencies that provide services for more information to help us support your child.
  • To schedule an intake meeting with our Inclusion Team at camp so we can get to know you and your child.
  • To have a discussion about the level of support (which may include the addition of a staff person) determined to help ensure you child’s success at camp.
  • To discuss the potential additional cost of the determined extra support staff for your child, and options for funding through PerformCare, Public School Funding, and parent pay.

Once the above steps have been completed, based on all the information we have gathered, together with you, we develop a detailed Summer Success Plan, necessary aspects of which will be shared with the administrators and staff who will be working with your child.
