3rd – 6th Grade

Liberty Lake’s Sophomore Division is for children entering 3rd and 4th grade, while the Junior Division is for kids entering 5th and 6th grade.

A day at Liberty Lake for these kids is very similar to a middle-school schedule – as campers shift from group activities to electives and back, learning how to deal with transitions, and getting along with lots of different personalities.

Sophs have THREE elective periods, and Juniors have FOUR (out of their 8 period day) and they can even SWITCH electives, if they choose to do so. And while they’ll sample elective offerings with other kids their age (including adventure activities like Mountain Biking, High Ropes Adventure, Skate Park, and more), these campers have the freedom and responsibility to travel between electives on their own. They love the challenge of becoming an ‘older’ kid – and they rise to the occasion!

Sophs & Juniors are taught to be more accountable for themselves and others. As they begin to demonstrate emerging leadership skills, we push our campers toward the ‘magical mystery tour’ of pre-teen independence- which, inevitably comes with learning not to “step over the line” in behaviors, and language choice- We’re on top of it!

Some of the additional electives available to our Juniors include Glee, Rock Band, and our famous Polar Bear Club! While mandatory Swim Instruction ends with the Sophs- if a Junior camper wants Swim Lessons or Swim Team as one of their elective choices, it’s their choice! Juniors also get the opportunity to participate in inter-camp athletic competitions and swim meets vs. other camps!

Sophs and Juniors definitely appreciate their scaled-up independence at Liberty Lake. The freedom we give them awakens their future mind-set for young-adult decision making. It’s sneaky of us, but in a really good way.
