Friday Assemblies

Every week at liberty lake on Friday we have a Friday assembly. Let me tell you a little bit about these Friday assemblies. For every Friday assembly everyone in the camp meets together. We all come together to celebrate all the fun we have had this week. Also to make time for the Friday assemblies all of the periods get shortened by five minutes. On Fridays instead of popsicles, we get fudge bars or ice cream.

One other thing that is announced at the Friday assembly is the bus winners. How the bus winners work is first on yhe bus everyone cheers their loudest then they get scored on their decorations and their cheers. The scores get displayed on a score board by the snack shack. At the end of Friday, Barbra from the Snack Shack grabs the trophy at fills it with a huge slushy to bring it to the amphitheater. Sometimes two buses are tied for first so both of the buses come up on stage and do their best cheer. And the crowd cheers the loudest for the cheer they like the most. This is how the bus winners get picked every week.

In addition to the announcing the bus winners on Friday, they also have kids who have practiced performances. Such as dance, cheer, and rap. For dance this Friday, the song that they are doing is “What do you Mean” by Justin Bieber. All of the divisions are doing the same dance. Some of the moves are fast and some are slow, but all of the moves go with the beat. And others move are small moves put together to make one big move. In cheer, the cheer always has to do with Liberty Lake. A lot of times the legs and ankles are tight and the hands are in fists. For rap, the song is “My House” by Flo Rida. They are singing fast words and making up their own vocals. Sometimes song writing or rock band will preform too.

Now you’re probably thinking, “How do these kids prepare?” Well there is an elective for everything that is being preformed, and there are other electives, too. Also, right before they preform, there is time to practice one more time. This way when campers preform they feel less nervous and their hard work pays off.

Finally, in some Friday assemblies Andy will give out fuzzys to people who did kind things over the week. Andy also will give out t-shirts to counselors; these counselors are now Counselors of the Week. So now you kind of know how the Friday assemblies work here at Liberty Lake Day Camp.
